Montecristi Chocolate is an organic chocolate couverture named after one of the most iconic towns in the region of Manabí, Ecuador, which is also famous for its Montecristi straw hats.

 

 For 200 years, Upper Manabí has withheld its longstanding heritage of Arriba Nacional cacao cultivation and trade.  We are now seeing a renaissance in demand for fine cacao and this means that over one thousand families in the area are benefiting directly from this boom.

 

What is unique about our couverture is that we are from Manabí, we buy our cacao directly from our people at a fair price, we produce in the country of origin, adding value to the local economy and empowering small-scale farmers.
